Take a stroll through your ‘gram and you’ll find a ton of pink, like a baby threw up on it or something. Pink walls, pink smoothie bowls, pink filters, pink this, pink that. Millennial pink has ruled our feed for a couple of years now. (If you’ve been living under a rock, millennial pink is a dull, muted, blush-like, salmon-y shade that stirs that fuzzy feeling inside you) But like all good things on the internet, the rose-tinted micro-trend seems to be drawing a yawn. Move over Millennial Pink, there’s a new colour in town. And the colour is – Gen Z Yellow. The trend-spotters are calling it a hue to watch out for already, so like any colour geek, we dug deeper to find out what Gen Z Yellow really looks like. And then we chanced upon this image that started all the social media frenzy – Kylie Jenner eating a banana, wearing a shade of yellow and posing around a Millennial Pink background. In case you’re wondering, Gen Z Yellow is not a specific shade, it ranges from a mellow yellow to bright sunny and beyond.
Question: will 2018 look all sunny and Wes Anderson-esque or will this too pass?
While Gen Z Yellow has its time in the sun, here are a few picks from the shop to help you nail the micro-trend at home.
